Kihnu museum

The museum, located in the old school building, has now been put into use as a museum that meets the requirements of modern times, introducing the traditional culture of Kihnu. The Kihnu Museum, which underwent a thorough renovation, was opened on June 20, 2009. The first floor of the building is fully open to visitors, the second floor houses the office of the museum staff, storage rooms, a reading room for learning about traditional culture, and a meeting room.

The entire exposition goes back in time up to 100 years. The regular, object-based permanent exhibition is complemented by a multimedia exhibition in the Kihnu Museum, which consists of film clips, slide programs and sound background. The exposition is structured based on themes. Local guides introduce history, customs and interesting facts from today.

In the room of temporary exhibitions, various exhibitions on Kihnu topics and other topics alternate. In various workshops you can get to know the customs and traditions of Kihnu better. In the museum shop, you can buy the best products of Kihnu craftsmen and entrepreneurs.
